CADIZ, HOME OF THE XXIX CONFERENCE OF IBERO-AMERICAN FREE ZONES
Cádiz will be the host city of the XXIX Conference of Ibero-American Free Zones in October 2026. This important international event comes to this city in Southern Spain thanks to the Cádiz Free Trade Zone, which took over from Punta del Este (Uruguay) in November of last year.
The Free Trade Zone Conference has been consolidated over the last 30 years as the benchmark annual event to strengthen alliances between the free trade zones of Latin America and Spain, bringing together hundreds of participants in its previous editions.
Until now, only two European cities have hosted the conference, Cádiz in 2002 and Barcelona in 2023, which highlights the importance of this event crossing the Atlantic and consolidating ties between free zones on both sides of the Ocean.

XXIX CONFERENCE OF IBERO-AMERICAN FREE ZONES
The XXIX Conference of Ibero-American Free Zones will be a great opportunity.
A city event, with national and international projection, that will position Cádiz as the world capital of free zones on both sides of the Atlantic and where the potential of these logistical spaces for the transfer of knowledge, for the attraction of investments in times of global geopolitical uncertainties, will be made visible.
From the hand of the Association of Free Zones of the Americas (AZFA) and the alliance with the Spanish free zones, the Cádiz Free Zone will lead a conference that expects to have hundreds of representatives from free zones, institutions and representatives of the private sector and in which the transfer of knowledge and collaboration with entities such as universities will also have a fundamental weight. In fact, the holding of the Conference will coincide with the Blue Zone Forum – Innovazul , the largest Blue Economy event in the country that will reach its fourth edition the last week of October and that Free Zone organize together with the University of Cádiz (UCA) and his Campus of International Excellence of the Sea (CEIMAR) .
Since his first edition in 2023 , in its three editions, Blue Zone Forum has brought together more than 100 international experts and has enjoyed public recognition every year, with more than 1,200 participants on average, among which the influx of young people and university students stands out, being an enclave for the transfer of knowledge and generation of entrepreneurial culture around the circular economy.
Furthermore, the XXIX Free Trade Zone Conference will be held just a week before the XXX Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government , which will meet in Madrid on November 4 and 5 of this year under the motto 'Ibero-America. Together we build our Community. Together we project it towards the future and towards the world', so the Cádiz conference will acquire even greater projection.
CÁDIZ FREE ZONE, ORGANIZER OF THE EVENT
He Cádiz Free Trade Zone Consortium is a Public Institution with 97 years of history, dependent on the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Spain dedicated to the socioeconomic development of its area of influence, the province of Cádiz. Its main lines of action since its creation have been internationalization, the promotion of productive spaces and the promotion and attention to the needs of the business fabric of the province. In recent times, it has consolidated a new line of work around a new, more innovative and sustainable 4.0 industrial model and the commitment to the Blue Economy.
In the province of Cádiz it covers more than 2.5 million square meters of infrastructure for the business sector, which amounts to 401 companies with a presence in its facilities, spread across 13 municipalities. They generate 4,380 direct jobs and 7,500 indirect jobs. The Free Trade Zone has two tax precincts in the province, with more than 600,000 square meters of tax and customs advantages, in addition to nine industrial estates and 20 office buildings and business centers.
In its commitment to be a driving institution in favor of a
most innovative and sustainable industrial model, the Free Trade Zone has once again looked to the sea and has opted for the Blue Economy and the promotion of internationalization and support for the business community in its external projection. In this sense, in recent years it has intensified its agenda of trade missions and collaboration and joint work with other free zones and with entities such as maritime and naval clusters, universities, companies in the sector, etc., to create synergies and strengths, especially with Ibero-American countries to explore and advance synergies and collaborations that generate opportunities for the business community on both sides of the Atlantic.
The experience of almost a century of history strengthens a roadmap with a more innovative, more competitive model and more committed to sustainability and the environment. With the Blue Economy as a radiating core of wealth and talent, which allows connecting the traditional industry of Cádiz with innovation and industry 4.0. and project it beyond the province and the region.
In this context, the Consortium
Cadiz has developed The incubation , a high-tech incubator around the Blue Economy, which was launched in 2020 thanks to the collaboration with the INCYDE Foundation of the Chambers of Commerce as an intermediate body of European funds within the Spanish Pluriregional Operational Program ERDF 2014-2020 –80% co-financed, a total of 3.15 million euros in total–, and which is reaping excellent results, with more than 5.5 million euros invested, 100 startups that have gone through their acceleration program, of which 41% are already billing and 81% are advancing.
These excellent results have allowed the Free Trade Zone, with the trust and drive of the European Union, to continue expanding services and consolidating Cádiz as an international hub of the Blue Economy with the project ZF Blue Core-Business Incubator 4.0 , which has a total investment of 10.3 million euros for an ambitious internationalization and business acceleration program co-financed at 85% within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund within the Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain ERDF 2021-2027 .
Both projects will be very present during the XXIX Conference of Ibero-American Free Zones, being the best representation of public-private collaboration for the consolidation and internationalization of companies with high technological value, from the transfer of knowledge and an ambitious training and mentoring plan.
